Hey! Whatcha looking at?
Actually, it’s a serious question. What are you observing in your life? What are you paying attention to? That is everything as far as how your mind and body work together.
If you’re looking at other people and saying something like, “Aw, man, she’s skinny as a rail. She probably doesn’t even eat anything.” There is a feeling of judgment.
Maybe you’re looking at someone who has a really chiseled body and you’re saying, “They’re probably spending their entire life at the gym. I’m not doing that.” You’ve already made a decision.
Maybe you’re looking at someone who has chosen a kale salad and you think, “Yuck! I’m not giving up sugar and french fries!”
Just notice as you observe the world around you with an attitude that is more negative than positive, guess who’s listening? Your mind. Guess who’s following? Your body. Your body follows your mind and your mind follows your emotions, energy, and decisions.
What you are looking at matters! When you decide what you want to do, who you want to be, how you want to look, and how you want to feel; you have to have something that you can look at every single day. A vision board for wellness will remind you that you want to live your life in a healthy, vibrant, alive body.
In the mornings, when my brain asks, “Hey, whatcha looking at?” I say, THIS is what I’m looking at and it’s my vision board. My vision board has a picture of me living at my fullest: passionate, energetic, vital, alive, focused. I’m at my ideal weight. I’m feeling my best emotionally and loving my body, my mind, and my life.
So, what are you looking at? When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see who you intend to be or do you see a reflection of all of the opinions and attitudes that have brought you to this moment?
